About the Moab Free Health Clinic
by Danette - March 20th, 2009.Filed under: Clinic Info.
Since February of 2008, the Moab Free Health Clinic has provided direct medical services to over 1200 patients. All Clinic staff, including the 10 medical providers, volunteer their time at the clinic. Although Clinic services are provided free of charge, donations are gratefully accepted.
In order to keep overhead and administration costs to a minimum, the MFHC is a walk-in Clinic that does not take appointments. Medical providers treat all conditions that fall within a scope of services they are able and/or equipped to treat. If a patient’s condition is unable to be treated at the Clinic, the medical provider will refer the patient elsewhere for treatment. In addition to immediate care, the MFHC provides ongoing treatment for issues such as high blood pressure and diabetes and the number of patients seeking treatment for these conditions continues to grow.
The positive impacts the Clinic is having on the community range from immediate care and increased prevention to long term health solutions. Ultimately, healthier lives lead to healthier families and a healthier community.
To date, the MFHC has been open two days per week, for approximately 2-3 hours each day.
The true success of the MFHC rests with our extraordinary volunteers as well as our community partners and financial contributors/donors. The MHFC has received a tremendous amount of support within our community and beyond and it is through this support that the MFHC is able to succeed in its mission to provide healthcare to everyone in the community.
